Powering the notched, multiple-strake deep-V hull is a pair of staggered supercharged Cobra 1,100-hp engines. Mercury No. 6 drives with 1.5:1 reductions and Mercury 17" x 30" five-blade cleaver propellers mounted on the transom to put power to the water. There is little room for improvement in the acceleration department. With its Hydraulic Products trim tabs down, the 45SS comes on plane in 4 seconds and reaches 84 mph in 20 seconds. Even more impressive is the boat's midrange acceleration numbers. You won't find many full-cabin 45-footers that run from 30 to 50 mph in 4.2 seconds and from 40 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.
